Writing CV: the do’s and the don’ts

CV or Curriculum Vitae often referred to as resume, bio-data, and profile or even as summary, is a statement of the personal history of a person in black and white. In includes work experiences, educational qualifications, achievements, biographical details and some references, if possible.

 

The purpose of CV is to get an applicant selected for a certain job. CVs are generally attached to an application letter. A perfectly created CV should have the power to convince the interviewer that the applicant is perfect candidate for the post. CV should be easy to read, attractive and unique. In addition, they should also be visually effective.

 

If you are eager to get some tips on writing CV or how to write CV, here are the tips as well as the do’s and don’ts. Follow them and develop your CV that would help you to be selected for the best job for you. Before that, let us concentrate on the factors that aught to be included in the CV of a person.

 

Personal details like name, address, contact details like phone number or email address, mother tongue, career objectives, strengths and other languages known should be included in the CV. The arrangements of these aspects should be according to the post for which you are applying. In some cases you may have to mention details like height and weight. If you do not have a permanent address, the contact address should be mentioned.

 

Another important element of an ideal CV is details about the educational qualifications. You have got to mention the degrees and the diplomas you have achieved so far. The names of the institutions from which you have achieved the degrees and the diplomas should also be mentioned. Do not for get to mention the year of acquiring the degrees. You may also mention details about scholarships received, awards and participation in some projects or seminars, if there is any.

Thinking and Working Smarter how to learn the ropes fast

Starting a new job is not always easy. It can be almost terrifying to be somewhere new and not knowing anything about what is going on.  I have been there and done that and it is one of the most frustrating and exciting times in a person’s life.  Getting to start a new job is something that can be a learning experience and it is important to learn the ropes as fast as you can so that you are ready to take on the challenges of a new job.

You need to think and work smarter.  This is always true and will get you further ahead in your career.  You want to apply all that you know and learn in your everyday experiences.  Take the time to realize what you are doing and what you still need to know.  Learn the ropes fast so that you can get in there and start getting on track with your job. 

I would always keep my focus.  This is very important when you are trying to learn the ropes of a new work place I want to stay in tune with what is going on so that I am not missing anything.  I always ask questions. This is the one way that learning is made possible.  Asking what you do not know is going to give you more chances at getting the education that you need to make life easier.  Working smarter is the key to getting ahead and this is going to be necessary for any new job that is started.

Paying attention is key. Always be on the go and ready for new material.  I will always look for more opportunities to get ahead.  If there is something that I think is going to benefit me at some point, I go for it and learn what I can to make it possible in my life.  I want to be as smart as I can so that I have endless opportunities and get where I want to be in may career and feel great about myself as well. This is going to be a good way to get self-esteem when it is running low.  Learning about something important for work is going to give you the power to move past fear and get down to business the way that it going to be expected of you.

Read all material that is available.  When learning a new job, reading all the literature that is out there will give endless amounts of power.  Learn the rules and all the regulations of the company.  Make sure that everything in the handbook for the company is understandable and make it all sink in.  I always read everything that I am given at work.  It may be confusing at times, but there is a reason that I have it and that is to learn it.  When taking in all that I can, I feel better because I will have the power to learn the ropes faster and move on with the career that I desperately want to achieve.

Get hands on experience.  The only real way of learning something is to do it.  This is true for just about anything. You do not want to go into brain surgery and only depend on the books that you have read.  Having one experience under your belt is gong to give you power to know what is going on and how to do it right.  I always say that I get better with experience and every time I apply what I learn, I am getting better.  Get your hands dirty and just does it. This will help you in the end and show your boss that you are serious about making a statement in the company and that learning is the only way to go.  This will get anyone bonus points and give the satisfaction of getting a job well done.
